The legendary knock-out

I'll never outdo Traceys story but I do have a good one for you. This was in 2003 when we were living in a small town in Utah.

Heres the background:

Mark had taken a job as the Herdsman( in charge of cow health) at Liddle Farms, a 800 cow dairy farm that supplied the milk(most of it) to Winder Dairy, a home-deivery service for dairy and related grocery items. (Yummy yummy stuff) Marks brother John was the VP of operations at the plant (in West Valley, 1 hour north) and his wife Jenns' father Gordon was the owner of the company. We'd been there about 2 years at the time, but we also had somewhat of a personal relationship with Jenns family, since they were extended family. Gordons 2 brothers also worked at the dairy, and had for many years.

Mark had sponsored an Argentine man to come to the US and work, since the economy had gone so bad there. It was a guy he's known from his mission for the church, and the guy was a good guy and a good worker. He was a milker at the farm. He was living with us in a spare room, and had been for about 7 months. Not my ideal situation or his.

Gordon had been coming down to the dairy about once or twice a week, and when he did the shit hit the fan every time. He was screaming, yeling, cursing at his brothers. getting picky about cleanliness in the pens (um, cows live there and crap all over the place), Micro managing everything, and not in a motivational way. Everyone DREADED when Gordon would come down. For months Mark would come home on the days he was down and just be pissed at him for being such a jerk-wad. He kept saying "I just wanna punch that jerk in the FACE!!" There was a 3 bedroom house on the property that the guys used as an office and Mark asked one of the brothers if Carlos (the argentine) could stay in one of the empty rooms. They were like, sure, yeah, who cares. SO Gordon comes down and starts in with the screaming, the cursing, pushing everyone around and being in a very bad mood.

Side note: Mark was also very upset that the company had switched our insurance the month before we had Wyatt to a plan that instead of us paying $200 we'd end up paying $2000. Ironically enough, we were making so little as it was that was could have qualified for Gov't healthcare anyway!

Mark is listening in on the verbal abuse that Gordon was dishing out to his brothers and fuming. The two eventually meet up in the office/house, where Carlos had inadvertently parked his car in Gordons "SPOT".

Gordon: Move that f**ing car out of the way

Mark: No, you move your truck

Gordon :{insert crazy screaming profanity}i.e.I never said that guy could live here, I'm the boss blah blah blah

Gordon gives Mark a 4-finger push to the chest

Mark: Don't push me!

Mark steps forward and Gordon cocks his fist back

Mark lands one hard solid punch to Gordons face, knocking him back to the ground, his sunglasses and cutting his nose, Gordon gets up, staggers around and says "get outta here" Marks just standing there the whole time with his next punch ready, but he turns and walks out. Gordon is on his knees, nose bleeding like crazy.

Mark storms down to the barn and says to the brothers "well, I just punched out Gordon!!!" and they are like "WHAT???? WHAT???" "Yeah, he's up at the house bleeding
all over the place"

The whole place went NUTS nobody could even believe it. Gordon went home with a big cut across his face and was sick for a week. It was kind of on the hush, they didn't want that kind of thing getting around the company, but obviously everyone at the farm knew. The brothers were happy, but also a little mad, you know, blood is thicker than water and all that, but everyone knew he deserved it. Gordons nephews think Marks a hero.

Side note #2: After this little "incident" I am at home with my litle 2 week old baby. Mark walks in the door (at 10:30 am, uh-oh!) And announces to me "well, I don't work for Winder dairy anymore!!" I'm like "WHAT??"(panic strikes my heart) And he proceeds to tell me the story. My first reaction is "Honey, he's OLD!!!" but Marks like "Hey, he had it coming! He wrote the check and I cashed it!" (our favorite Seinfeld line!) Well, Marks brother calls, and is NOT happy. I was worried about what this would do to my relationship with my sister in law, and worst, UH, What about his JOB!?

The results:

Mark didn't go back to working there, but it was OK he found something else to do

Jenn was OK after a couple weeks, she didn't take it personally. I'm telling you, everyone even his wife knew he deserved it

Gordon and Mark actually had more mutual respect after that, Gordon was a little afraid Mark would press charges on HIM (the boss, who pushed Mark first)

Gordon had a heart attack the next year, and the day he came home from the hospital died of a blood clot.

The End

(Dang I feel like Tucker Max!)
