Killin time....still feeling craparoo

I realized I never did post the shorties first day of school pics. Its going pretty good. Heres a little mommyhood nugget to put away in your cap........If you let your kids do fun stuff(football, chorus, dance, soccer) then you have stuff to threaten to take away when they try to not do their homework, reading, chores, etc. Its all about negotiation and you have to give yourself something to dangle in their face. So far its working, hope it continues.

SO I'm still really feeling crappy and achy and coughing so I went to the Dr and she thinks I have pneumonia. I go in for a chest x-ray tomorrow. Bah! At first I was ticked because I only had 1 time slot to do it in and that was my gym time but then I realized that I sounded stupid to myself. Hello, if you need a chest x-ray, the gym probably shouldn't be your next stop. Then my first hair appt. rescheduled so now I guess I'm just resting and babysitting tomorrow. I start antibiotics tonight and mabye it will miraculously cure me by tomorrow. I doubt it but mabye. I'd really like to be in BED right now but I have to wait till Mark gets back from the football meeting so I can go get my prescription. At least he went to the meeting, I know he'd rather be home since he just worked all day on both his only 2 days off. Anyway, enough of my granny talk about my aches and pains and pills, I'm outta here. :D

I have been so sick. I'm really ready to be done with it. Wednsday night it hit me hard int he form of a nasty stomach thing. No barfing, because I chickened out (I hate throwing up) but it was a rough night. Thursday I was in bed with guts churning and stabbing body aches. At about 6 Thursday nite it just dissappeared, but I still had the aches. I of course had things planned for Thrusday and now had to double up my Friday activities, so I took some Advil and trucked on at high speed, which resulted in a Saturday afternoon relapse into low-grade fever, and stabbing body pains. I did realize though that if I keep myself doped up on painkillers(nothing serious, OTC stuff)I could function at about 75%. Unfortunately its moved into my chest now and I am still left with a general "malaise" that won't go away. So I remain on Dayquil.

Today I medicated, drank a Rockstar, and then went to the gym, so I was pleased with myself for getting right back to it. I just knew that if I didn't go and do SOMEthing I could lose a whole week to excuses, and I am too determined at this point. I ended up with a pretty decent workout. I did 30 minutes of cardio on a 8.0 incline, then legs. Smith machine, calves, leg curls and extensions. My leg extensions were EXTREMELY weak. I have never felt them that weak, but considering that my whole body aches without pain relief, I'm just happy I eeked out 3 sets. Then I was good and came home and made chocolate protein oatmeal. It tasted ok, but its not sitting real great. bleh. I just feel good having sweated and exerted myself. I REFUSE to wimp out. But if I don't feel better tomorrow, I'm gonna have to go to the Dr. I truly can't even remember the last time I have been sick, so I guess I was due.

My food plan is going to include some yummies from Rae (chicken cacciatore and chicken curry-YUM) and probably some gems from Amyella as well. I really need to get the food portion of my goals going. Their stuff looks so delicious and I can't wait to try it. I have the pic with my dad on my screensaver and it is really motivating me. I want those B cups back!!!! (sorry, Mark) ;)

We are growing up!

I have always known that having kids was gonna go by quickly. And don't get me wrong, I have a lot of years left in the mommy trenches, we haven't even hit teen-dom yet. Something is very different about this year. Mabye an example of my last 24 hours will illustrate what I am talking about.

I worked all day doing hair yesterday, then made a quick dinner. Some people didn't like what I made so they made their own dinner. Then Mark was working and I wanted to go out to a girls night out thing so I settled the kids in with a movie, (I now have 2 that can "babysit") and I left. I came back 2 hours later to find Cade in bed asleep, and the rest of the kids still on the floor in the dark watcing a different movie. House still cleaned up. They went to bed (they were so tired form the first week of school they could hardly argue) and I crashed. Nice. This morning Cade Cooper and Wyatt went to the lake with some friends from school. I felt a little misty about them going to the lake without me. I know they will be safe, thats not it, and I'm thrilled that they are out doing something fun, but I think it is that it is such a rite of passage in my mind. I grew up at the lake. That is what 3/4 of my happy teenage family memories are is of the lake, the boat, and it was so much fun. Now my little kiddos are there without me, riding the tube, wind in their face, having a blast. It really makes me want to get one of my brothers to take us out. Anyway, my other point to this story is that I always know that the boys would be off doing things with friends without me, busy and hardly home. I just never thought it would start this early. But it is already starting. I have to say honestly that this is tougher than the first day of school this year. I have a sad little pit in my stomach, like they are growing up way too fast.

On another note, Sadie just came in and wanted me to take her to circle K to get a soda so she can have a treat while she cleans her room. Oh my. Another one growing up way too fast and already picking up my bad habits. Yikes!

PLEASE LEARN FROM MY STUPIDITY,HERE, PEOPLE!!

I am going to put this out to show you whatr NOT to do. This is me in the black dress last month at the wedding. Chubby cheeks, badonkadonk, big round soda tummy. I'm trying very hard to suck it in and twist at a flattering angle, but its not quite happening. Very hard to look at.

This is me with my dad last Thanksgiving. I was ready to run a 10K that day but coudn't becuase I was hosting dinner. I looked good. I FELT good. I was even able to lose 10 additional pounds before Christmas. So the goal is: Get back to where I am here in the pink sweater again by this coming Thanksgiving, and lose another 10 before Christmas, just like last year. I really want this, so I will make it happen.

Its the most wonderful time of the year...:D

Oh can we all sing it together?? LOL I love that Staples commercial when the song is playing and the dad is merrily tossing school supplies into his cart. hee hee. I feel like I have graduated into some secret society that all the big time moms enter into when the kids are all at school. Well, I'm still a "school mom sorority" pledge, since I still have 1 at home, I can take a well-behaved 4 year old just about anywhere, and the little sweetheart played on the computer for an hour and let me nap without interruption. WHEEEEEE!! Did I mention that I LOVE structure??? I do so much better when I have things on my schedule. Speaking of which, I got my Blackberry up and running today, I have needed this desparately! Today was all fun and games, homework was light, etc. You don't even want to see all the crap I have coming up. I will really need the downtime in the days to get me through the afternoons I have coming up. I really do have plenty of time to do everything, if I stay focused and organized. I feel up for the challenge. I've been really good about scheduling things after 9 am, so I have time to get to the gym every morning. I saw some pictures of myself from thanksgiving last year, HOLY MOLEY have I gained. I mean it is very scary. I had no clue how much better I looked last year. It was a teeny bit depressing, but also very motivating. I WILL be looking good again by Thanksgiving. My new strategy for making being thin and fit a PERMANENT lifestyle is to set my big goal for Valentines day 2008. By then hopefully I will have gotten a clue on how to get fit and then STAY there!

OK so anyway.......the first day of school was great!!! The kids did great, Cade says this is the best teacher he's ever had, and it is going ot be the best year ever. LOVE the new attitude! Sadie loves hers too (although she was the only one with significant homework) and Cooper says that even though his teacher is supposed to be the meanest he is going to make her love him be being awesome. Wyatt loved his first day and is really excited to go back tomorrow. We are 4 for 4!!! Dayton had a great day too, I'm hopefully gonna keep him busy enough so he dosen't get bored.

On another note....I got the WEDDING PICTURES!!! Finally! I love them. Well all the ones without me in them :/ Oh well like I said, it was a gut check. I'm posting a couple, but it will be really hard to pick the best ones, they are ALL good!

I'm It

1-If you had an extra 3 hours a day what would you spend it on?
Reading my scriptures and doing service, Ideally

2-What's the one thing that's changed most with having kids?
My time is no longer my own, and even when I do get away from it all.....I'm still concerned with the kids, hoping they are OK, etc.

3-If you were given $10,000 and had to spend it on travel, where would you go?
On a LONG cruise to Hawaii and then take my kids to Panama to visit family and vacation

4-What's your favorite restaurant? What's your favorite meal?
Right now my favorite is Firebirds for a Sirloin Salad and Lobster Queso Spinach dip.

5-What will your life be like in 10 years?
A LOT more quiet but probably not any less busy

Cool Tag, thanks, Nicole! I tag anyone who hasn't been tagged!!!

Well I think its like 4 am, I was having some girl issues last night after we got back from the park and while curled up in a ball on the bed, promptly fell asleep really early. I'm feeling better now but I slept like crap. and I have a SUGAR withdrawl headache. Its been off and on since Sunday.I was about 90% sugar-clean all weekend, then yesterday was my first hardcore no sugar day. This weekend I passed up Mark b-day cake, (which was cocounut cream pie that I dislike anyway) the Sadie made a giant pan of brownies on Sunday of which I had NONE even though they were some leftover monday morning, I didn't touch them. The 10% was an accidental pack of fruit snacks, and some lemonade, and 4 m&m's and about 5 Junior caramels. I have had NO soda. It has made a huge diffference. Here's really why. Its not the actual DC for me. Its that there are a whole list of bad things that I just cant' eat if I can't wash it down with DC. For instance: Any kind of chips, shelled peanuts, Candy bars, Taco bell, and for everything else, it really takes the excitement out of the food. Besides the fact that when I drink DC my water intake quickly goes to next to nothing, and now I am forced to drink water. Now today later I am going to the lake, and I will have to drink water, no soda. I am thinking I will bring a sugar free Rockstar, as a treat. Mabye not, I can't decide. Mabye it will be my reward for getting down 2 liters of water before we go or something. Anyway, it has been really good so far. I have managed to eat some bad food, but it is dramatically improving.

Today we had the super excitement of finding out who the kids teachers were going to be and who was in their classes. My best news was Cade's class. He got he teacher he wanted and is in (as requested) with his best friend Cole and Coles twin Emily. I am SO HAPPY!! 5th grade is really tough, and having that little boost will be really good. Sadie got a new teacher, and one of her really good friends is in her class with her, and Cooper has a new friend in his class. I asked Cade if Coopers teacher was nice and he says "In my opinion (long pause) -No" LOL Oh well. Cooper is usually such a good boy, I'm not worried. I didnt tell Cooper what Cade said. He can find out if its true on his own. Wyatt is pretty excited about his class, he knows a couple kids in there which will help. I wish ELLIE was in his class, that would have been so fun, but oh well. They have fun meeting new kids, its good for them to have to get out of their comfort zone. I'm so excited/sad for Wyatt going to school. I can't imagine him eating lunch at school, going to P.E., music, library, all that big kid stuff. Even though I know he is beyond ready, it is so mixed for me. awwwwwwwwwwwww.

Alright, I'm gonna try to go back to bed. I'm really trying to relax and take it easy this last week before school, its the calm before the storm!

Blah blah

I am now officially 3 for 5 on workouts for the week. DANG!~ I went for a walk with a neighbor tonight and we made a pact to go 1 full week with NO sugar. Did you hear that?? WHAT???!!! I agreed to do this. youch. I neeeeeeeeeeeeed a detox, this will have to do it for me. This also includes diet soda as off limits. I'm going "ok, that sounds hard, but I need a big wake-up" and she says......."Starting now. Right now, tonight" Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I need a DC SO bad right now. I was gonna sneak off to Circle K as soon as the kids fell asleep and snag me one. But I promised and committed, so I must adhere to my pact. Anyone else want to join us??

I am getting new phone. Hopefully by Saturday it will be here. YAY!

Okey doke I am off to bed.

So far so good

Alright well I'm 3 for 3 so far this week on workouts, pretty good ones, too. Eating, not so great but I'm getting better.

My cell phone got stolen (well, I left it at the movie theater accidentally) but when I went back for it it was gone and the jerk was using it (a LOT) so I had to turn it off. Its driving me crazy to think there are people trying to call me and they are getting a busy signal. Luckily I have a vonage line here at the house but most people don't know it. I've sent out e-mails, but it is still bugging me. Tomorrow I am calling all my hair clients to give them my new #. I'll get the old one back as soon as I get a new phone, but that could be a couple weeks still. GRRRR! ANNOYING!!!! Between this, my debit cards being hacked (4 different cards in 5 months) and my documents being stolen,I'm ready to SCREAM!!! I now have no bank accounts, no birth certificate, and no cell phone. L O S E R!!!!

On a happier note I changed my hair color back to its original dark, with no highlights. FUN! I really like it and then my neighbor Jill cut it tonight, it looks cute. I'll take pics tomorrow when the bags under my eyes are lessened. :D

12 days till SCHOOL starts!! WOO HOOOOOOO!!

Here is a picture of the cake I made for the wedding. Its not the best but I still don't have the real pics, so it will have to do. This is after I had carried the entire thing (all 40 lbs of it!) back to the house and it sat out in the heat all night, so its a little wilted. You get the idea though.

Be afraid.......

I feel sick in the pit of my stomach right now, because I have to go to the gym as soon as Mark gets home in the morning and do a HIIT session. I have gone through every excuse in the book, yes I need new shoes (but the treadmills are padded enough, it won't be bad) and I will be TIRED( even though I took a monster nap today) and I am WAY out of shape(but the "easing back into it" hasn't really clicked, I end up doing nothing)SO I'm left with pretty much no excuses.

Heres what has scared me back into action. I had the worst nightmare last night. Just awful. I dreamed Cade and Wyatt had died, and I was putting their bodies (broken into pieces) into big black trash bags (while crying hysterically) and then, worried that it would seem like I had killed them I was told by a friend to also put in the bags things that they had liked. So I woke up sobbing and sick (Dayton was up, disoriented and crying wandering around the house) I think it was him that actually woke me up. After a few scary, horrible moments I realized it was a dream and woah, what a relief. But still, horrible. Really scary. Today I have literally eaten all junk and drank LOTS of soda, which has (I strongly believe) resulted in 3 minor panic attacks. I have been sick to my stomach (like something was wrong) for a few days now, off and on, and I cannot figure out what it is that is causing these feelings. I keep calling Mark at work to make sure he is OK, Cade is with my dad, I just don't like it when somebody is missing from the family like that.

I just have to believe that my horrible physical symtoms are being caused by my lack of good food and water and physical activity. I look sick. I feel sick. Both Sadie and Cooper came up to me at different times today and commented that I look like I "don't have any makeup on" (that was Sadie) and Cooper said I looked "different". My stomach is distended and swollen, I'm all puffy. I did make a delicious and healthy chicken curry dinner the other night, but I ate way too much of it. I am just really needing that lean, tight feeling again. I've lived on the fit side for too long, I can't go back to this horrible chubbed out life, its too hard. Its only been a couple months and I'm miserable, I can't imagine doing this for a lifetime like so many people do.

So tomorrow is going to be really hard. It will be the toughest 30 minutes of my life (oh yeah, I need at least a 5 minute warm up and mabye even a 10 minute cooldown), it will not be pretty. Its gonna be some cellulite jigglin', booty shaken, dead-legged thunder and misery, but I gotta start somewhere. Heaven help me.

EDIT: OK well I did it. It was not pretty. My face was purple when I finished, and my time SUCKED, but I did it. I can say "oh, I'm out of shape" all day long, but then when it hits you in the face....thats not so fun. I do feel better, and I'm glad I did it. My post HIIT meal was 2 string cheese and some grapes. But then I somehow ordered an extra icecream cone from McD's....whoops. Baby steps, people. :D. The rest of today is gonna be awesome. Tomorrow...Upper body and GLUTAMINE!

Slug woman

Yes, I am slug woman. I am in a funky funk, that is for sure. I feel OK, just tired all the time (hmm, wonder why?) all this sleeping in and naps are not good for me anymore. I can't wait for school to get back in so that I can get some structure again. OK, I could just carve myself some structure, but lemme tell you, it is TOO HOT for structure. Who wants to move their big body around when its 115 degrees 24 hours a day?? I certainly don't feel like bouncing around. Its like reverse hibernation for all the cold weather folks with their winter blahs. I have summer vacation blahs. Hopefully this week is the low point and the next 2 weeks I can get back into the swing of things to get ready for school.

Cade was whisked off last minute by my dad to go to Texas for 2 weeks to a fiddling camp. It should be fun for him but I kinda miss him already. Even though he was driving me crazy i.e."Can a person actually DIE from boredom??" LOL so he will be home 2 days before school starts. Crazy. The other kids are totally addicted to this Penguin world website. Its cute, you make up a penguin and meet other penguins and go on adventures with your new friends. So its constant computer regulation and time-keeping.

Anyway, I've been reading all of your blogs, and hopefully I will start posting soon. I just wanted to give all my blends a shout out, you guys are whats keeping me in the fitness game. I love seeing some of you kicking butt, and others of you who are "off" right now, I don't feel so alone :D I'll be back and fighting and kicking booty really soon.

Stuff

Do you ever go through times where you get apprehensive about blogging because you feel sick of hearing yourself go on about yourself?? Kinda feeling like that now, like...I think I'm really sick of myself. Oh well, not much I can do about it, I guess. This is for posterity, its my journal.

Car update: I am VICTORIOUS!!! It took a week and a lot of phone calling, but I am escaping a 2,000 DOLLAR repair bill for 250 bucks. Bottom line-Ford authorized the dealership to do ALL possible repairs (even unnecessary ones I had verbally forbidden, like new and improved spark plugs) without even notifying me, let alone ask my permission. My dealership really went to bat for me and got it worked out. Add to that the fact that their entire system (at Ford) has been down since Friday morning. I have been 1 full week without my car or getting anything resolved because they were shut down. So YAY ME!! Woman 1, Ford,0! I gotta hand it to the dealership, they did me right. Woo HOOO! I get to pick it up in the a.m.

Wedding pic update.... What?? Was there a wedding?? It was so long ago I practically forgot. Sheesh. Mabye tomorrow.

Summer vacation: Not too horribly hellish. Today we splurged and saw Ratatouille and also went to Red Robin for dinner. Tomorrow, pool and gym for sure. Trying to stay busy, and have been putting the kids to work. School starts in 3 weeks, I might actually make it. I am having some little sadness pangs thinking of my little Wyatt baby off to kindergarten all day long. Awwwwwwwwww. Times are a-changin.

Fitness: Baaaaaaaaaad.

Thats all I guess. I think I should be glad theat the drama is on the down low right now. Its great. I am so super blessed.
