And speaking of cake.....

I came across this blog tonight, and yes I realize I am pretty tired but I haven't laughed SO hard in a long time than at this girls blog!!! Seriously, I am laughing so hard I am crying!! I want her book!!! Not only are the pictures priceless, the snarky comments had me rolling!! The Mothers Day cakes were just BEYOND hilarious!!!! Oh my goodness, I'm dying!! And the Christmas cakes......ROFL!!!

I wish I could give the credits for these pictures, but seriously, this is the best blog ever!! What a riot! There are some where the person taking the order over the phone and heard the instructions in a funny way, and one bride who had a literal lifesize version of herself made as her wedding cake. SO creepy!! And so funny!

Birthday Girl!!!

Hooray its Sadie's 11th Birthday!! I love Sadies birthday because we get to be girly and froofy and PINK around here. First example: her birthday cake that I made last night.

Prepare to be DAZZLED!!

I have been wanting to try this style of cake for a long time, and what a better excuse? I surprised her with it this morning, she was so shocked, she loved it. I'm trying not to be offended that Mark and Cooper don't actually believe that I made it myself. Actually, it is kind of a disaster structurally speaking. I will need a few more trys before I get it right I'm sure. Its sure fun to practice though!! Not too bad for my first time out.

And now back to the birthday girl.........She got to open one present this morning (an outfit, of course) and I actually blowdried her hair for her. She will get her other 2 presents after school and then we will have to decide whether to cut the cake today or wait till tomorrow when her friend comes over. She is having 1 friend over after school and we are going to Panda to eat (their choice.....I'm not arguing!) and to get manicures. Mabye I'll take her to spend her birthday money too.

How amazing is this girl??!! She is truly a treasure. Sweet, helpful, responsible, and fun. I just want to keep her exactly as she is right now, but then another part of me can't wait to see what a wonderful woman she will become. She has always been such a mature soul, and always taking initiative and keeping me on track. If something needs to be done I can count on Sadie. She always has a lot of friends because everyone loves to be around her. Happy birthday, Sweetie!!!!

Summer plans??

I really dont have anything cool to say, but I just wanted to move the last post of unpleasant body functions off the top of my blog. :D I'm trying to just be calm this week and relish the last few days of lovely calmness around the house during the day before school gets out friday. Oh, am I dreading it! Luckily everyone sleeps in till 9 or so so i have some quiet time in the monings. I do have some plans to keep them entertained during summer break, and hopefully it won't be too bad. Mark has been working a little more, which is a relief, but we will be on a SUPER duper tight budget this summer. We have a few things planned, we will see what we actually get to do. Worst case scenario, we will be getting our fun at the neighbors pools, the public library and the Bashas Cub Club. LOL And we can take the go-carts out for a spin for the cost of about 2 gallons of gas for 3 hours of fun.

I do actually have a couple things to get together for the end of the school year parties, and it is Sadie's birthday on Thursday, which we are celebrating friday. Is it just me or is this week dragging by??

The sick house

Mark is the sickkie now, poor baby!! Sore throat, dry heaving, fever, achiness. He looks pale, awwwwwwww. At least he has me to go to the store and get him drinks, and bring him medicine, and all that. Why don't moms ever get taken care of?? Even though, I do like taking care of him, the sweet 'lil guy :D

I had so much fun at our GNO last night, thanks guys! Who can beat Abuelo's, clearance shopping at the GAP and then 17 Again. Zac Efron is waaaay too cute! I love how they tried to make 1989 seem all old school at the beginning. LOL!! That was the beginning of my heyday!! I loved the cheerleaders dance, talk about bringing back memories!! I loved it! Thanks for inviting me guys. These girls are the best!! I can't imagine some of them not being around, it just kills me!! I'm not too worried though, I will be keeping tabs on you mover-awayers!!

I was too tired to watch the Lost season finale last night, but I watched it today.......WHOA!! I have never experiencing so many things making sense and yet so many other confusing questions surfacing. Its DIABOLICAL!

AI- I am really happy (as I know many others are :) that its Adam and Kris. I would mabye like Danny and Kris better, but I can't deny the skillz of Adam. I'm definetly rooting for Kris, as the underdog and as a person/role model. I will actually vote next week. The kids think its SO cool to vote LOL

DID YOU HEAR that in 1 WEEK it will be So You Think You Can DANCE starting???!!!!!?????!!! I am BEYOND EXCITED!! I seriously about peed my pants when I saw that it was already set to DVR next week!!! I wait allllll year for this show.

Thats it for now!

New Week

Happy Mothers Day. Mine was a pretty normal day. I had my mom here from Montana so that was fun, we wet up and saw my littlest sister and youngest brother graduate from Eastern AZ College. While I was there I got a fab new hairdo from my cute SIL Hannah. Its pretty short, its a nice change to have an actual style after sporting a mop for the last few years. Its a longish stacked A-line. And I went dark too!

Anyway, for mothers day I got to sleep in which was great, after a crazy week. I got a nice gift card from Mark and we had my MIL and a friend over for a casual speghetti dinner and dessert. Of course I got some sweet little things from the kids that they made. I love being a mom to these awesome kids!!!

OK well thats all I have for now.

Happenings

Fun times. Isn't the end of school great?? Well I used to be running ragged with end of year stuff back in the old 'hood but since nobody does much in the way of extra stuff for the end of the year/holidays I get off the hook for a lot. I do miss it just a little bit. Teacher appreciation week, (that was a solid 2 weeks of work itself!!) concerts for every grade, mothers days teas, spring fling, every and any excuse for a graduation ceremony/party, and the meetings/setups/cleanups/donating/supervising any number of these activities. Yup, that was the old helicopter mom days of Chandler and CTA. We don't celebrate, appreciate, or graduate from anything out here in the country. :D Celebrating is for suckers. :D School just.........ends.

Last night we had the Young men/Women combined activity at our house. We copied the idea I saw on Merideths blog of the Throwdown with Bobby Flay. We had a burger cook-off. It was more of just get into 3 groups, first come first serve on the cool ingredients and then went to 3 different houses to prepare the masterpieces. We had the bishopric be the judges. All the kids really got into it and did a great job working together. We had a great turnout and a big sucess. Courtney got much better pictures than I did, but I did get a couple.

Gee, looks like we had a couple people over :D Loved it!

I found Cade a violin teacher, I'm so excited and today is his first lesson. Its a younger guy, so that part is cool and if it works out he could be his guitar teacher too.

My mom is coming into town for my brother Nick's graduation from EA. (so see, I guess we do have some graduating going on somewhere!! LOL) so we are going friday afternoon and Saturday. Thatcher is always good times!

Did everyone hear about Oprah telling everyone to go to KFC and get a free meal of the new Grilled chicken. In case you are wondering how, go to unthinkkfc.com and print out a coupon for your meal. 2 pieces of grilled chicken, 2 sides and biscuit. It was yummy!! Don't be tricked into thinking its that much healthier. Yeah, its not breaded, so that cuts off about 1000 calories, but still plenty greasy and delicious. We did feel a little bad for KFC having to give away all that food.........Until the 16th!! Hopefully Oprah is going to pony up for some of that!! LOL Honestly though, I would get that meal for myself now that its on the menu, it really was good.

I got over the flu, it was so not fun. MISERY! Glad thats over. And I didn't die even though the facebook quiz I took said I would.

And last: I have been couponing up a storm. I have always been jealous of the people that go shopping and then take a picture of the "loot". And its not that I didn't believe it was true of couldn't be done, but I never thought I'd ever be able to do it. Well Guess What????

And not pictured are 30 packages of Ramen, I couldn't get them in the picture. This was from last week.I usually do better than this most of the time. I usually save around 70%!! I spent 88 dollars and saved 135. I'm SO ticked because Frys was out of Tabasco sauce (Cassandra took them all, I saw her!!!!!! LOL) and I forgot my Lawry's marinade coupons, so I missed out on 6 Tabascos for FREE and 6 Lawry's marinades for FREE so my total saved should have been like 25 dollars more. DANG! But it's still pretty good, and I still could get those things later on, just mabye not free, like 25 cents or something. Anyway, BOO YA I'm getting my 3 months supply and saving tons in the process. Love it!

Parenting..........Not for the faint of heart

Every once in a while there are those moments as a mom that I just absolutely cringe, and realize that I am in this with both feet- And how um, interesting raising 4 boys (and a girl) is proving to be! Anyone who knows Wyatt will not be shocked by this conversation, but you have been warned :D

W: (upon exiting the bathroom) "Mom, I know why girls don't have wieners"

Me: Really?????? Why??

W: "So that they can sit down and relax when they go pee"

Me: (inward sigh of relief) Yep, that is one reason :D

And he skipped off, so pleased with himself and his awesome smartness of putting two and two together and solving such a mystery.

Oh boy. Kids are fun!! :D
