My kind of Prison

These are prisoners in a Philipine prison. Apparently they had such a high crime rate in the prison that the warden decided to occupy their time with synchronized dancing, and they put on a performance once a month. If they don't do it, they get priveleges taken away. They have to practice like 5 hours a day! They are all funny, they do the hustle, Souldja boy, and a bunch of others. Some of these guys really have the moves going on! LOL I thought this one was the funniest, partly because of the "girl". LOL!!!!!

Thoughts of the King of Pop

I just have to add my 2 cents to the passing of Michael Jackson. I came home from the movie with the kids (Transformers) and saw it on the news. I was just feeling a little bummed out about it, he just had such great songs but such a strange life, but then they started playing "Billie Jean" and the memories just came flooding back. The Thriller album was one of the first tapes I ever owned, and I used to listen to side A every night as I was going to sleep for several months. That "tape" (haha how old am I?? LOL) was a lot of the soundtrack (along with Duran Duran and the Police) to a very pivotal summer, 1984, when we were living with my dad and had a teenage babysitter all summer, so we listened to a LOT of top 40 radio. It was a lot of fun, and good memories. I really love jackson 5 songs, and most of his songs. I remember one time my Aunt was a big fan of him or for some reason my dad knew a kid in our ward (Sterling Peterson) and we brought him over to her house for a surprise and he had a sparkly glove and outfit, and did the moonwalk and little MJ dance for her and she just loved it. Fun times. I see dances all the time and I think so many of the movements are variations of "Thriller". He was such a trailblazer!! I always felt bad for him over the years, it seems like he had so many personal problems, and who knows the truth about his abuse allegations, he just seemed so tortured. I hope that its not true, but you never know, right?? I guess if it is, he'll be fairly judged now. I can't imagine living with the kind of worldwide fame and microscope he did. Any child of the 80's I'm sure is feeling some twinge of sadness today. For me, I will always remember where I was when I heard the news. What other "news" that has come about in recent years that you will never forget where you were when you heard it?? Here are mine:

I know there are more, I just cant think of them right now. This is going to be all over the media for weeks to come, so I thought I'd say my piece about it before we get too sick of it all.

Library day was today- it is definitley the highlight of the week. We go exchange our books, CDs and games, and play on the computers for an hour or 2. Then hit QT on the way home for 32 oz Icees. The summer reading program has these kids reading like mad, in spurts. Either way, its better than TV or getting on each others nerves, and Dayton is really picking up the reading. He is ready for first grade for sure!

The other day they were needing something fun to do, so I pulled these out of my ancient scrapbook supplies. They are so cute, but I'll never use them. Perfect! If you look close (its blurry) you can see the "alternate" faces Wyatt and Cooper put on their kids. Boys, I swear! LOL
So that is pretty much what our week has entailed. We are surviving. And we are leaving for the lake for 2 days tomorrow afternoon. C-ya!!!!

What are we doing fun this week??

This is what I have been hearing......every day. Ohhhhh, summer vacation. We have been doing good going to the library every week which is a big highlight. we go to the AJ library, it is really nice. We've been swimming with friends, sleeping in, watching movies from the Redbox (I don't recommend trying to get them from a Walmart location........Walmart shoppers are, well, special people I have been reminded) We had 2 sick kids this week, which was a bummer. I ended up taking Wyatt and Coop in to urgent care on Saturday morning, and Wyatt ahd an ear infection and Coop had the flu. He has been miserable. Wyatt is on the antibiotics so he's running around already.


This week, I'd like to possibly get my bathroom painted. It is a hideous color and I have had all the supplies and paint for months now, I just need to make the time. On Friday we have a camping trip planned......just me and kids, and my sis Katie and BIL. Mark has to work, BOOOO but it will be fun. We will be cooking yummy stuff over a fire and sleeping in the tent, then spending the day at the lake with my family. I'm really looking forward to it. Time to bust out the air mattress! No roughin it for me, I camp in comfort!

Back From Utah!!

We are back from our awesome trip to UTAH!! It was very short, which was too bad but we packed as much fun in the time as we could. I went with my MIL Dianne, and we took Sadie too. We left super early and got there by about 5. We found Maureen and had a lovely dinner with her friend Leslie and her family. Then we went to Marks cousin Christines where we were going to stay and had fun catching up and playing games. Dianne and Moe went to visit another friend from Panama so it was just Sadie and I. It was so fun getting to know Christines darling kids, what a bunch of cuties!! They made us so at home. Sadie had a blast with their kids, and they just included her right in what they were doing. She wants us to move to Alpine and buy a big house with a theater room and 2 dishwashers just like Christine's :D LOL Bless her heart! :D


Sadie was staying in Rachel's room, she was loving it, it was gorgeous!



The next morning we got up early and took Raquel to her first day of LDS Business College and shopped till we dropped (literally for Dianne and I!!) at the fabulous Gateway Mall.

(Sadie stayed at the house and slept in and played with the kids so it was perfect.) We even went and all got fitted for new bras at Victoria's Secret since their bras were 40% off. Talk about girl bonding time!!!! LOL It was great. We ate delicious lunch and then headed to yet another mall to look for clothes for Moe. I was on a quest for the perfect summer sandal, but I was out of luck in that department. I'm not giving up yet. I want something like this:


Anywhoo......We had fun. And then that night a bunch of a the Lamb cousins that live in the area all came out to Steve and Christines and had a cookout (and brought yummy stuff!!) and got to know Raquel. I hope she feels like she has lots of fun people to be there if she needs anything while she is there at school. It is her first time living in the United States and is starting her first year of college, so it is pretty overwhelming. She has grown up in Panama all her life, and this will be a big change. She seems up for it though, I'm so excited for her!




It was chilly, and rainy, and perfect weather. Here was my view on Tuesday afternoon as we sat around and chatted. LOVE!!





I loved seeing everybody who came over. Some of us sat around for a few hours telling stories about the "older" generation and having some good laughs. I am so amazed at the wonderful people I get to be associated with in Marks family, they are great GREAT people!

Lastly, on the way home this morning we picked up my SIL Jenn's sister, who will be staying with Dianne for a while. It was an emotional leaving for her but she is ready to get things turned around for herself and we are going to have a lot of fun with her here.

Ok so I started getting back into the fitness/working out thing last week. I really like my gym and I thought I'd try out a bootcamp style group workout that they offer (For FREE) so I went to my first one last night. HOLY CRAP was it hard! I seriously almost died, but it was great about an hour later :D I called Mark on my way home and literally started bawling. I was just toasted. It was core and cardio for an hour, minute and a half sets between core exercises and then we had to run to a machine and go at a set pace for a minute and a half, no resting, 14 stations. It was brutal. Then today I went back for another session from 3-4, except it was upper body instead of core, and same cardio. It was really hard, not quite as bad as yesterday but seriously tough. The cardio kils me, we have to run at a 15 degree incline at a 4.o pace! About 30secs in I'm burnt! Its like the longest minute and a half of my life, repeated 15 times! Its exactly what I need to be doing....So I'm going back tomorrow for Legs/cardio. Help!!!

Summer: chapter 2

I survived the first week of summer!!! So far is has been quite nice, if mabye a little expensive. At least I have my coupon adventures that keep us in free snacks which is helpful. Heres what we have done so far:

Monday (memorial day): Roosevelt Lake with the kids and my family. WAY fun and hopefully a frequent activity

Tuesday: Lunch and a buffet, and over to MIL's to help with chores after her knee surgery and swimming

Wednsday: Cleaning and some shopping for activities. We got an adorable 550 piece puzzle, and a new Guitar Hero bundle (its getting older, and so its a lot cheaper!)


Thursday: kids finished the puzzle (drat!) and we cleaned up and went grocery shopping (NEVER taking them again!)
Should we look a little more enthused?? It was a funny puzzle, it was of a People Zoo and all animals were walking around looking at the people on display. It made us laugh. I just didn't think they'd get it done in 2 days!



Friday: Library day, Mark came with us and all the kids got cards and books. That was fun.

Saturday: more cleaning (imagine that!) Cade had parties all day and we had a dinner with all of our most wonderful Elgin Peeps and then game night. Mafia is super fun, although I totally suck at it!! It was fun watching everybody get so wound up! I'd love to say lets do it again.......but everyone is LEAVING!! Brats!!

Sunday: The usual church, singing in choir, and we took Cade to a special priesthood meeting. It was really good.

And now again is....Monday. What do we have planned for this week?? Weeel, I have to do some hair, which is good, I'll be hitting the gym everyday, the boys are super involved in Legos right now. I have to get Cade to Thatcher for his fiddling camp starting this week, so we might be there a couple days. Probably a dollar movie (to which I have free passes) and I promised Cooper I'd get shelves for his lego collection in his room. Then Sunday I am going with my MIL and Sadie on a fun quick roadtrip to UT to see my SIL and neice and all the Utah cousins. I can't wait for that is will be fun to get away. We really do have to get the kids out of the house everyday, just to feel like they "did" something. And it gives everyone an excuse to brush their teeth and get dressed :D
